No provider at your address?
You still have options.
Wired broadband isn’t the only way to get online in Louisiana. Here’s what residents in unserved and underserved areas can actually do today, plus what’s coming with federal and state funding.
5G and fixed-wireless home internet
If a cellular carrier has 5G coverage at your address, home internet over that network is often the fastest affordable option. Each carrier publishes its own address availability checker.
Satellite internet
Satellite is available essentially everywhere in Louisiana. Not the cheapest option, but a genuine floor for rural addresses where no other service exists.
Is a new fiber build already funded for your area?
Louisiana is receiving $1.355B in federal BEAD funding plus state GUMBO grants. If your address is inside a funded project, new fiber may be weeks or months away, not years. Check your parish page for current project status.
Can’t afford what’s available?
The federal Lifeline program offers a $9.25/month discount on phone or internet service to qualifying low-income households. See if you qualify and check every parish’s enrollment gap.
State resources
The Louisiana Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity (ConnectLA) runs the state’s digital equity programs, including digital navigator support and public-private partnerships for underserved communities.
