Frequently asked questions
Where our data comes from, how often it updates, what we do and don’t do with your information, and how to read what’s on the site.
Where does your data come from?
Availability, speed, and provider data comes from the FCC Broadband Data Collection, which every ISP is required to file twice a year. Subscription and household data comes from the U.S. Census American Community Survey (ACS). BEAD funding and project data comes from the state's ConnectLA office. We refresh after each FCC release.
Are you affiliated with the State of Louisiana or ConnectLA?
No. GetConnectedLA is an independent consumer tool built by Parity Platforms. We are not part of the State, ConnectLA, or any government agency. We use public federal and state data, but we do not speak for any agency.
How often is the data updated?
The FCC publishes new Broadband Data Collection releases twice a year. We refresh our site after each release. Census ACS data refreshes annually. Connect Scores are recomputed whenever underlying data changes.
Why does the address checker sometimes say "no specific data"?
We use the FCC's block-level data to look up your exact address. If the FCC hasn't yet published block-level records for your area, we fall back to the parish-level provider list so you still see options.
Do you store my address when I use the address checker?
No. Addresses are used in-memory for the lookup and discarded. We don't store them, sell them, or attach them to any profile.
Why are some providers missing from my city page?
Our provider list comes from FCC filings, so we only show ISPs that have filed coverage for your census blocks. Very small local ISPs and electric cooperatives sometimes have gaps in their FCC filings; we do not supplement with scraped or self-reported data.
What do "served," "underserved," and "unserved" mean?
Unserved = no provider at 25/3 Mbps or better. Underserved = has service but below 100/20 Mbps. Served = has at least one provider at 100/20 or better. BEAD funding prioritizes the unserved first, then the underserved.
What is the Connect Score?
A 0–100 number that combines four weighted components — Availability (35), Quality (25), Competition (20), and Adoption (20) — into a single comparable score for every Louisiana parish and community. The full methodology page has the formula and a worked example.
